GUERRE CELESTE: MARIE-LUCE NADAL
Marie-Luce Nadal's exhibition, Guerre Céleste, inaugurates the new Project Room at the Galerie La Patinoire Royale Bach, which presents specially invited proposals or works of emerging artists over a shorter period of time.
Born in 1984, the French Catalonian artist and researcher explores the intersection of art, science, and mythology in her work. Born to a lineage of winegrowers, she endeavours to master the heavens, using installations and artworks to infuse the sky with symbolic and political significance, exploring themes of gender and ecology.
Her artistic practice blends uniqueness of form, scientific inquiry, and poetic expression, showcasing the multifaceted nature of artistic and scientific research. Through narratives, machine-based creations, and performances, she engages with the vastness of the universe, evoking a sense of connection and fascination.
Guerre Céleste presents a series of works that immerse the viewer into a personal cosmogony, made up of study drawings, a cloud trends calendar, homemade bombs and family notebooks. Among them, Arbalète Madeleine (Madeleine Corssbow) embodies the artist's quest to "make the clouds cry and search for their emotions." The exhibition presents three unique pieces that capture and tame three essences of the clouds to offer an experience where these condensed atmospheres can be perceived in a new way.
Nadal’s installations constitute a narrative ensemble exploring the unknown, dreamlike, and poetic dimensions of human existence when confronted with the transcendent. Her art confronts the intertwining scales of life, revealing a profound interconnectedness between terrestrial and divine forces. In her exploration of the atmosphere, Nadal raises fundamental questions about our relationship with nature, unravelling the artificial landscapes that surround us. Her work revolves around the human obsession with control and dominance over the natural world, extracting essences from storms, domesticating flies, and conjuring clouds.
