CE MOUVEMENT QUI DEPLACE LES LIGNES : POL BURY - LAB[AU] - ROGER VILDER

Galerie La Patinoire Royale Bach's exhibition, entitled "Ce mouvement qui déplace les lignes", brings together works by 3 artists belonging to the kinetic art movement: Roger Vilder, Pol Bury and the LAb[au] collective. Several generations are represented, illustrating the continuity of this artistic movement throughout the 20th century and right up to the present day.

Pol Bury
Pol Bury (1922-2005) is well known to the Brussels public and art lovers alike: an internationally renowned Belgian artist, he is one of the major players in kinetic art, present since 1955 alongside Yaacov Agam, Jesús-Rafael Soto and Jean Tinguely in the exhibition Le Mouvement, organized by Victor Vasarely at the Denise René gallery in Paris.

LAb[au]
The Brussels-based LAb[au] collective, made up of 3 young creators Els Vermang (b. 1983), Manuel Abendroth (b. 1969) and Jérôme Decock (b. 1973), has been active since 1997. Using new technologies, they create works of various kinds, particularly integrated into architecture, in which movement plays a key role, notably through the use of complex programs that unfold over time.

Roger Vilder
His interests and research led Roger Vilder to take an early interest in new technologies: he is one of the pioneers of computer-assisted artistic creation and the use of algorithms. Roger Vilder's exhibition at the Patinoire Royale | Galerie Valérie Bach, curated by Serge Lemoine and accompanied by a major catalog including texts by Marianne Le Pommeré, Pierre Restany, Roger Vilder himself and Serge Lemoine, is the first large-scale exhibition devoted to his work.

All aspects of his work are represented: animated modular reliefs, mechanistic reliefs, mobile abstract compositions, neon sculptures and electronic creations. This is a rediscovery of one of the most original exponents of kinetic art, who, like Pol Bury, inspired by nature, favored the representation of slow movement in his work.
