Alice Anderson is exhibiting in the group show Faire, nager et s'envoler, curated by Mathilde Roman at La Gaya Scienza, a new Contemporary Art Space around the works of Marcelle Cahn. The exhibition runs from 4 November 2023 - 16 March 2024.
"Faire, nager et s'envoler" brings together works and artists based on the everyday gestures that carry us and (in)support us, give us strength and overwhelm us, fluidify and share our emotions.
In this exhibition, La Gaya Scienza is inhabited by bodies, memories and performative gestures, in an atmosphere sometimes tinged with shamanism, like those Alice Anderson produces with her totems and paintings. The choreographic rhythm of her creative process is spellbinding, her trance-like body imposing its mark on the space, the canvases and sheets where she paints with discarded technological objects that she then crystallises with threads. The intensity of her gestures and her relationships with things and the world produce an atmosphere charged with echoes and listening.
