PARIS PHOTO: ART FAIR

For the occasion of the Paris Photo 2023 art fair, Galerie La Patinoire Royale Bach, in collaboration with Miyako Yoshinaga Gallery New-York, will present the work of two artists: Ken Ohara and Melissa Shook.

 

Bringing together for the first time two major series from the artists Melissa Shook and Ken Ohara, both produced between 1972 and 1973, Galerie La Patinoire Royale Bach and Miyako Yoshinaga parallel two singular approaches to self-portraiture. Not an occasional self-portrait, but a systematic self-portrait, an aesthetic gymnastic, a visual demand in the form of therapy, as a means of being in the world, here and now.
