The Cloud Factory
Rebecca Lamarche Vadel, curator of the solo exhibition La Fabrique de Nuages at the Palais de Tokyo, writes about the work of Marie-Luce Nadal:
Marie-Luce Nadal conducts research consisting of interpreting and constructing artificial landscapes based on the observation of the environment and its perception by humans. Dynamics, flows and their interactions, movements at work in the universe are at the heart of her interrogations. How to capture the air, to possess the elusive?
At the Palais de Tokyo, Marie-Luce Nadal is interested in an element that is by nature vaporous, the cloud, which transcends borders and transcends the systems erected by man (territories, nations, cultures, etc.). The Cloud Factory is a system invented by the researcher, allowing her, during her travels, to capture clouds and reduce them to extracts, in order to make them reproducible, at will. Between industrial production and utopian dream, Marie-Luce Nadal develops a project that tries to realise the Promethean dream of Man; to master the elements and make them his own.
