ALICE ANDERSON | CENTRE POMPIDOU MALAGA: GROUP EXHIBITION

31 January 2027

Alice Anderson is part of the group exhibition To Open Eyes, curated by Lucille Royan at Centre Pompidou Malaga, open through January 31, 2027.

Floorboards Data (2015) is a 14-meter sculpture from the Data Architecture series, created in response to the way data is generated. These precise physical reconstructions of specific architectural elements from existing locations raise ethical and ecological questions about the accuracy of data collection, its environmental impact, and the reliability of the information we gather.

This exhibition focuses on the way in which artists invite us to decentre our gaze and thereby transform our relationship to art, society and the world. The meaning of Art is to “learn to see and to feel life” as affirmed in 1940 by Josef Albers, a German-born artist and professor living in the United States. For him, Art is inseparable from life, and he encourages us “to open eyes.” This expression applies to both his conception of pedagogy and his artistic process.
