Regular visitors to the Patinoire royale may feel a bit disoriented upon arrival. Instead of the usual direct view of the vast central hall, one discovers that all the glass doors have been completely covered (including those upstairs). That’s because Lebohang Kganye’s world is not simply made up of works carefully hung side by side. Using photography, film, sculpture, and weaving, the South African artist invites us to step into her world. Immersed in shadow, it is composed, for her first solo exhibition at the gallery, of four recent series.
