Jeanne Susplugas is exhibiting at the Philharmonie de Paries in the group exhibition Disco, I'm Coming Out, open through 17 August, 2025.
Emerging in the United States in the early 1970s, disco music quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. This exhibition pays homage to the meteoric rise of this music deeply rooted in the history and culture of black America, heir to soul, gospel and funk. A collection of audiovisual archives, photographs, instruments and costumes underlines the political and festive dimension of this music, which has brought different minorities and social classes to the dancefloor, all united in the same hedonistic élan. Accompanied by a soundtrack mixed by Dimitri from Paris, the exhibition emphasizes the aesthetic that disco inspired in artists and designers.
