LITA ALBUQUERQUE | OFFSCREEN PARIS: SOLO EXHIBITION

16 - 20 October 2024

At OFFSCREEN we present a deep look at Lita Albuquerque's 1980 urban Land Art installation The Washington Monument Project: The Red Pyramid. The artist dug trenches and filled them with her signature pigment to create a red triangle on the National Mall in Washington, DC that perfectly encased the shadow of the monumental obelisk. The intervention is at once grandiose and subtle, a feminist meditation on time and types of power by this pioneering artist.

A large scale triptych and copper and pigment sculpture are presented in dialogue with a never-exhibited slideshow, original drawings, prints and documentation.
