LAB[AU] | ZERO DIESE EXISTE. ART, MATHEMATIQUES, INESTHETIQUE: CONFERENCE - 19h

6 June 2024

In conjunction with LAb[au]'s FARBEN | FERNAB exhibition, we are delighted to welcome Michel Tombroff, a Brussels-based visual artist with degrees in engineering from the École Polytechnique de l'Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and theoretical computer science from the University of California (Santa Barbara). His artistic work explores the links between formalization, subjectivity and aesthetics in the fields of art, mathematics and philosophy.

Ahead of events at the Centre Pompidou (Ircam) and the Sorbonne (Institut Henri Poincaré) this autumn, Michel Tombroff kicks off his lecture tour with the release of his essay Zéro dièse existe. Art, mathématiques, inesthétique (Éditions Mimésis) at the gallery on Thursday June 6 from 7pm to 8pm.

This essay resonates with the work of LAb[au], a collective with a perfect command of concept, mathematics, logic and language, brilliantly demonstrating how the most rigorous conceptual art skilfully escapes the constraint of finitude by circumventing it.

We recommend arriving early to take advantage of the current exhibitions, and taking your seats at least 15 minutes before the lecture begins.
