MARIE-LUCE NADAL | LES ABATTOIRS, MUSÉE - FRAC OCCITANIE TOULOUSE: PRIZE

9 November 2018 - 10 February 2019

Marie-Luce Nadal was a laureate of the Mezzanine Sud prize from the les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse and was invited to exhibit her work at the museum.

The title of the work, L'Orfeo, refers to an opera based on the Greek myth of Orpheus trying to rescue his wife Eurydice from the Underworld. The artist used the moral of this myth to evoke the idea of surpassing oneself, of doing something one never thought possible.

At Les Abattoirs, the artist presents a performance, in other words, she uses her own body in her creation. For this performance, she creates an opera... in her mouth!

It's as if you're in a theater watching a performance, the stage being the inside of your mouth. Opera tells a story, but on a very small scale.
