Carlos Cruz-Diez’s monumental artwork, the Rainbow Bridge, was installed in China. Created in 2016, the Chromostructure illuminated the city of Shanghai in November 2023, during the artist’s centenary celebration.
The Chromostructure will be integrated to the balustrade of the Rainbow Bridge, a distinctive landscape structure allowing visitors to enjoy the city skyline as they ascend step by step and revealing the interaction between colors and the spatial environment.
The work consists of two sets of elements, each composed of five colors: green, blue, red, orange and white. The two components are arranged alternately, and aluminum plates of different colors combined to achieve the dynamic visual effect of color.
