Renaud Auguste‑Dormeuil is a visual artist whose practice, since the mid‑1990s, probes how images are produced, circulated, and instrumentalised in public and political arenas—mapping the skies before bombings, charting the mechanisms of surveillance, and lately adopting more metaphorical, speculative forms.
The artist recently unveiled I Will Keep A Light Burning, an original commission at AlUla Contemporary Art Museum, Saudi Arabia, in the exhibition Arduna, realized at the invitation of the Centre Pompidou. In the installation, candles are placed on the ground to replicate a map of the stars at the exact spot one hundred years in the future. The brief flames burn out a century before the sky mirrors them, living on only in photographs. This work will be exhibited in the rotunda at Bourse de Commerce, Pinault Collection in Paris on May 23, 2026 during La Nuit Européenne de Musées.
Among numerous honours, he received the Prix HSBC pour la photographie (2004), Prix Meurice pour l’art contemporain (2010), and Prix 1 % Marché de l’Art (2022), and he was a resident at the Villa Médicis, Rome (2009–10). He lives and works in Paris.
